Privacy notice

Fair Deductions is responsible for the personal data described in this notice.

Information we use

We use account details, verified email addresses, billing identifiers, service usage and the inventories, reports, photographs or other evidence you choose to submit. Stripe handles full card details; Fair Deductions does not receive or store them.

Why we use it

We process information to provide and secure the service, authenticate users, take payments, allocate proposal usage, provide support, prevent misuse and meet legal obligations. Where required, our bases include performing our contract, legitimate interests and legal obligations.

Service providers

Account authentication is provided by Clerk, payments by Stripe, application hosting by Vercel, account and case data storage by Neon, and AI-assisted document review by OpenAI. Depending on the deployment, uploaded reports are held in private object storage provided by Vercel Blob or Supabase. Submitted evidence may therefore be processed by these providers to deliver the service.

Longer report reviews use OpenAI background processing and Vercel's durable workflow service so processing can continue after you leave the page. Fair Deductions passes only case and processing identifiers—not PDF bytes, filenames or extracted report wording—through the workflow state. OpenAI temporarily stores background response data to allow status polling; this mode is not compatible with OpenAI Zero Data Retention.

Retention and security

We use access controls and private object storage to reduce unauthorised access to submitted reports. Report links are time-limited and requested through a signed-in case. No online service can promise absolute security. During the private beta, reports and case records remain available until you delete the case or account; we do not yet promise a fixed automatic deletion period. A deletion request starts removal from the active Fair Deductions service, but providers may retain limited backups, security logs, transaction records or other information for their own documented retention periods or where the law requires it.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
